» Summer 2009

Dear Members of the TC,

Summer holidays are ending, and we’re all gearing up for a new exciting theatre season.

I hope you all had a relaxing vacation.

Our joint meeting with Opera Europa at the Showtech in Berlin on 17th and 18th of June can be called a success.

Regarding our TC projects I’d like to sum up the most important ones.

-          The Support to practitioner’s project is evolving, slowly but steadily.

Thanks to the EduCom and my visit to Bulgaria, we gathered more contacts and information, and are expanding our network.

-          The schedule of the Technical Invention Price, or TIP had been set, and it looks like this:

Now: information on the OISTAT website + special TIP address: tip@oistat.org

September 2009: presentation at the WSD2009 in Seoul

Publication on all OISTAT member websites.

September 2010: end date for entrances, start of the work of the international jury.

January 2011: editing and printing the results

June 2011: presenting the book AND the price at the PQ2011 in Prague

-          We decided on a joint meeting with the Architecture commission at the World Congress in Seoul, Friday, 18th of September.

Can everybody who will be there confirm this asap?

-          At the WSD, a workshop was planned around the old theatre technical trick “Pepper’s Ghost”

Unfortunately, the main sponsor of this event bailed out, so we have to cancel it.

As I said, our joint meeting and discussions with the Technical Production Forum of Opera Europa were a success, and both parties are longing for more.

That is why we decided to try to organize another joint meeting on 27 – 30 may 2010 in Rotterdam.

We’re trying to make it an official invitation this time.

I hope to meet you soon in Seoul or on one of these coming events.

Best regards,

Ivo Kersmaekers
