Idiosyncrasies and Theatre-building in Bogotá

The second edition of Theatre Architecture and Engineering Conference was held in London in June 2006.  OISTAT member Caroline Noteboom (who works for OISTAT associate member theateradvies) spoke under the topic "Changes in Culture Caused by Performing Arts Buildings". She narrows in on the city of Bogotá, capital of Colombia, which has gone through a decade of auto-reflection and transformation in an effort to develop the pluralist identity of their over 8 million inhabitants. Theatre and music festivals have been used by the municipality as an essential vehicle in this process. She looks at the role that performing arts buildings play in the construction of this collective identity.
