The next OISTAT History & Theory Commission meetings will be on Sunday 19 June at DAMU in Prague during the Prague Quadrennial (16 26 June, information on www.pq.cz). This is a full day with a Symposium from 9.30 12.30, the launch of a new cross-commission Working Group on historical theatre architecture and technology from 14.30 16.00 and importantly the business meeting and election for a new Chair of H&TC from 16.00 18.00.
Elections for Chairs of OISTAT Commissions are held every four years. Kate Burnett, elected Chair in 2007, will not be standing for re-election. Dr Dorita Hannah is the sole candidate and was proposed by the Finnish OISTAT centre.
You are warmly invited to respond to and attend all calls and events.
H&TC 2007 - 2011
In the past four years, the H&TC has met annually, (in Prague 2007, Helsinki 2008, Seoul 2009, Amsterdam 2010, holding a symposium or conference on each occasion. In Helsinki and Amsterdam these were convened in collaboration with OISTAT ScenCom and with our hosts the Finnish OISTAT centre and the Theatreschool, Amsterdam respectively. In Seoul the H&TC was invited for the occasion of World Stage Design by the Korean Theatre Studies Association and the Korean OISTAT centre. On each occasion a rich and wide ranging selection of presentations and papers have been given. The abstracts of these papers and some full presentations where available and agreed with the author are currently being prepared for a collection on the website, to be accessible by June 2011.
Theatre Timeline Working Group
In Prague a new Working Group called provisionally Theatre Timeline will be launched. It arises out of the interests and passions of OISTAT members across Commissions in historical theatre architecture and technologies.
As with the other OISTAT working groups, the aim is to be project / activity based. Please do help us to get this exciting initiative off the ground by expressing interest, attending and/or suggesting projects for the group.

[Data Collection Form - WEBSITE]
[Data Collection Form - PUBLICATION]
We would like to invite you to fill in and return (in doc format) the above forms for two database projects. These are intended to create useful repositories of information on:
1) virtual performance space projects, from walk-arounds of old London Music Halls such as Wiltons, to the re-creation of Baroque and Greek theatres through digital modelling,
2) books on theatre and performance design that you consider key to their appreciation in your country and would like to be listed in an OISTAT database. We understand that e-searches can find most things, but personal recommendations can help hugely. If you dont know all the details requested on the forms, please send anyway. You are welcome to suggest multiple digital projects and books. Please use a separate form for each one. THANK YOU.
If you miss or need information, please send an e-mail to the OISTAT Headquarters
