Announcement of the recent availability of the Marna King Theater Collection documenting Professor King's research of German theater performances between 1968 and 2000

 

Highlights of this valuable collection of materials include:

 

---Plays of all time periods and many styles and countries are included.

---The collection was developed over 19 years of onsite research into the West and former East German theatre aesthetics and was purposely focused on viewing the entire performance as a whole: the drama, translation there of, the  acting. staging, scenography, costume, lighting and sound and other visual effects are entwined in this collaged, montaged method of communication to the audience as well as the approach to viewing, describing, and collecting of materials.

---Professor King worked as the costume designer with guest German directors and with German scene designers for productions of German dramas presented in her home institution theatre in Wisconsin.

---The size of the collection is substantial, weighing over 400 lbs. when shipped to the Academie der Künste in Berlin.
