Please see important general note at the end of this document.
I have several questions regarding TAC2011.
Q1: Are there existing building facades in dwg. format and if yes how can I get it, or some more exterior photos.
A1: All available material is on the website.
Q2: Is it possible to change the appearance of an existing building, in any form (e.g. change the roof…) because the building is protected.
A2: It is an ideas competition. You can make whatever proposals you think are appropriate.
Q3: What are the exact dimensions of the lot belonging to the church, eg. what is the area in which I can design a new annex…
A3: All available material is on the website. Any reasonable assumptions based on this information will be accepted.
Q4: Whether the project is sent only as CD version or hard copy is also needed?
A4: Only a CD is required.
Q5: I am interested in entering the 2011 theatre architecture competition. I was wondering as I am new to theatre design whether I am able to enter as I am not an architecture student and am primarily theatre design.
A5: The competition is aimed at architects and architecture students but anyone can enter.
Q6: Are we going to get more historical background on Santa Anna’s Church? Students have asked for it.
A6: All available material is on the website. Any reasonable assumptions based on this information will be accepted.
For the TAC 2011 competition we were looking at the site information available on the website. We have two questions concerning this info;
Q7.1: On one of the pdf's an CAD image is layed on top of a google maps photo. The .dwg drawing would be helpful in designing. Could we get the .dwg version of this part of town?
Q7.2: The second question is about the information available on the building block the church stands in. In the pdf's available there is only the church. Is it possible to get more detailed information about the whole building block? (that is including the buildings surrounding the church and its connection to the streets)
A7: All available material is on the website. Any reasonable assumptions based on this information will be accepted.
Q8: I was wondering if a School of Architecture is not taking part in the theatre competition, are individual students al owed to take part on their own?
A8: Anyone can enter, either as an individual or as a group.
Q9: I have a question concerning the Time schedule of the competition.
You say that entries must be dispatched by mail on or before 11 March 2011, but I was wondering if we also had to subscribe prior to that date in order to be eligible for the contest.
Also, I would like to make sure that students from Canada are also eligible.
A9: You do not have to register in advance. Anyone can enter. Entries will only be evaluated if an entry is dispatched by 11 March 2011, at the latest, is received by 25 March 2011 and the fee has been paid.
Q10: Concerning the material for the TAC 2011 competition; I tried to download the photos, aerial views 3d photos and plans of St.Annas church but without success. I was wondering if it is possible to receive these by e-mail instead?
A10: If you are having difficulty downloading information please tell us your email address and we will email it to you.
Q11: I'm interesting in the OISTAT competition 2011, and I want to choose it as my graduation project.
I am wondering, if there is any base data about this competition. For example, if the site of the theater confirmed is, which kind of theater should it be, how many audience should it accommodate. I haven't found any information about that on the website.
A11: All information has been published on the website. Please read the brief carefully. We do not stipulate the number of people to be accommodated.
Q12: My team and I are architects by profession and we are very interested to participate on this OISTAT's competition. So, we have a few questions for you.
If we participate as a team, do we pay only 50 Euros as a collective participation fee, or we must pay 50 euros for every team member who participates in our team (all together 150 euros for three team members)?
A12: The fee is 50 euro per entry, regardless of the number of people involved.
Q13: Can the competition work be sent only by e-mail or it must be sent only as a cd with competition work by post?
A13: A CD must be sent by post. We expect some files may be too large to email.
Q14.1: Is it possible to demolish and rebuild the building? if yes, is it necessary to rebuild it exactly in the same place? And with the same shape and dimension?
A14.1: This is for you to decide, but you must use the site of St Anna's church. Please read the brief carefully.
Q15.2: Is there any limitation in the use of materials?
A15.2: No.
Q15.3: What do you mean with the word "accommodation for artists"?
A15.3: Dressing rooms and backstage facilities.
Q16: I am a lecturer of a group of students and young professionals that are working on the theme of architectural design of spaces for the performing arts. We address all the issues that are requested for the competition. However our site is a 15th century Hall in the historic city of Ako in Israel. It is a space that accommodates annually a week long alternative theater festival. Would you approve for us to participate in your competition with a design solution for this site and not St Anna's church?
A16: The competition site is St Anna's church and no other sites will be considered.
Q17: We would like to take part in the oistat theatre competition with a group of students. It seems that there is a problem with your website. I cannot get further than home. So there is no possibility to download the brief and any further information. Our term starts next week. So it is quiet urgent to get the material. Can you please inform about the reason for the problems respectively how or when I can get the downloads and information.
A17: If you are having difficulty downloading information please tell us your email address and we will email it to you.
General Note:
Please be aware that entries selected for exhibition at PQ will be printed on a translucent plastic sheet and will be back lit. For this reason drawings with light backgrounds are more likely to display well than those with dark backgrounds. Please ensure that line weights and graphic techniques are suitable for printing both at full size (A0) and for the catalogue at A4 size.
The material available on the existing building and its location is a general concern. Having reviewed this we believe that competitors have a reasonable amount of information. However OISTAT will try to improve this information and any further details will be made available on the website from 15 November 2010 onwards.
